Basic functions of packaging. Factors causing food spoilage. Types, and utilization of paper-, glass-, metal- and plastic-based packaging materials. Multi-layer combinations of materials. Special food packaging technologies. Examples of food packaging systems. Bar-code system in packaging. Packages and recycling. Migration. Regulations on food packaging.
