| Course Description |
| Fundamental principles in design of support systems. Determination of loads having influence upon support and
reinforcement systems. Properties of wooden material and design principles. Wooden longwall and face support systems.
Properties of steel material and design principles. Steel longwall and gallery supports (rigid steel arches, hydraulic supports,
powered supports) and design principles. Rock bolts and design principles. Concrete and shotcrete support design and
dimensioning. Stowing methods and design principles. Support applications in metro and tunnels. Support selection and
design according to rock classification systems. In computer laboratory, excel spreadsheet evaluations and up to date
software applications used in designing of support systems for tunnels and underground mines. |
