| Course Description |
| Classification and effects of overvoltages. Internal overvoltages: power frequency overvoltages (sudden load rejection, Ferranti
effect, ground faults), switching overvoltages. External overvoltages: properties and effects of lightning, propagation of surges.
Traveling wave problems: reflection and transmission of traveling waves, Bewley and Bergeron methods. Protection against
overvoltages: protection devices, their selection, and installation. Protection against the lightning. High voltage insulators.
Insulation coordination: definitions and classification, statistical evaluation. |
