Information
Musicology and Music Theory (Doctor of Philosophy) program. The application requirements, quotas, application schedule, and other relevant information are provided below. After reviewing the application announcement and the requirements, you must complete your application between April 24, 2026 09:00 - June 26, 2026 17:00 (UTC/GMT+3). Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their applications are successfully completed within the application period. Completed applications will be evaluated by the Registrar’s Office, and applicants will receive an email indicating whether their application has been accepted or rejected. The status can also be checked via the Application Form. Applicants with approved applications cannot make changes to their preferences or submitted information.

Minimum GPA from undergraduate to doctorate must be 3.00/4 (76.66/100).

Additional Requirements for Transfer
For transfer applications, applicants must have completed at least one semester in their current PhD/Proficiency in Art program and have a minimum doctoral GPA of 3.25.

Sprecial Requirements for the Program
ALES is not required. Graduate GPA must be minimum 3.00/4 (76.66/100). Minimum GPA from undergraduate to doctorate must be 3.00/4 (76.66/100). * Letter of Intent (about the applicant’s expectations from PhD and the field he/she wants to work in - at least 1000 words) * 2 Letters of Reference * Reference letter from the advisor with whom the applicant plans to work during his/her PhD program (in addition to the above two reference letters) * Portfolio: The portfolio should include the applicant’s CV, written works (such as graduation work, homework, dissertation, project output, articles, essays and blog posts); audio-visual works such as audio recordings, videos, etc. and certificates of achievement/participation, if any. Portfolio should be uploaded during the application. It can be uploaded as a file or as an accessible link.

Portfolio
Applicants are required to upload a portfolio during the application process. The portfolio must be in PDF format and no larger than 50 MB.
The portfolio should include the applicant’s CV, written works (such as graduation work, homework, dissertation, project output, articles, essays and blog posts); audio-visual works such as audio recordings, videos, etc. and certificates of achievement/participation, if any. Portfolio should be uploaded during the application. It can be uploaded as a file or as an accessible link.

English Proficiency
English proficiency is not required for application. PHD candidates who are entitled to final registration must present their a valid English language certificate at the time of final registration. Students who will apply for transfer admission are required to upload a valid English language certificate during the application process.
