2026–2027 Academic Year Second Round Application for International Undergraduate Programs

International students who are currently in the final year of secondary education or have graduated from a secondary education institution offering a curriculum equivalent to Turkish high school education, and who meet the requirements stated below, may apply to Istanbul Technical University (ITU) for undergraduate programs for the 2026–2027 academic year. The international student quotas for each program and the required application documents are listed below.

A) WHO CAN APPLY?

• Applicants who are in the final year of high school or have graduated from a secondary education institution whose diploma is recognized as equivalent by the authorities of the Republic of Türkiye, and who have obtained the minimum required score from one of the examinations listed in Section B, may apply to the programs announced by our University for international student admission.
• Applications of candidates announced as Principal in the announcement titled “International Student Applicants Who Have Been Granted Registration Rights” published on the ITU Student Affairs Office website on **27 July 2026** will not be accepted, and if accepted, will be cancelled. Likewise, applications of candidates promoted from the waiting list to the principal list in the announcement titled “Students Promoted from the Waiting List to the Principal List Due to Non-Registration” published on **14 August 2026** will not be accepted, and if accepted, will be cancelled.
• Candidates may apply for the international student quota provided that they meet the conditions specified in the YÖK Principles for Admission of International Students.

E) REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED IN PDF FORMAT

• All applicants must ensure that the uploaded documents are clear, complete, comply with the required standards, and are in PDF format.
• If your documents are not in Turkish or English, you must also upload notarized or officially certified Turkish or English translations approved by a notary public, district governor’s office, or the Republic of Türkiye’s overseas representations.
• Applications submitted with scores below the minimum required criteria will not be accepted, even if the examination or diploma is otherwise valid.
• International examination scores (SAT, ACT, AP, etc.) are valid for 2 years.
• Applicants may be requested to submit additional documents or qualifications or attend an interview if deemed necessary.
• Meeting the minimum examination/diploma requirements does not guarantee admission.
• The weighting of application criteria may vary depending on each applicant’s academic background and qualifications.
• The authenticity of all uploaded documents will be verified by the relevant institutions. Applications containing fraudulent documents will be deemed invalid, rejected, and legal action will be initiated. In such cases, applicants may not claim registration rights by submitting new documents.

Required Documents:
All required documents must be uploaded in PDF format and each file must not exceed 2 MB. The portfolio file prepared for the Fashion Design (DDP-SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology) Program may be up to 50 MB.

1. High School Diploma:The original high school diploma (if the diploma is not in Turkish or English, a Turkish or English translation approved by the notary public, district governorship in Turkey or Turkish Foreign Representatives should also be uploaded.). Prospective students who have not yet received their diploma are required to upload an official document showing that they will graduate ( The estimated graduation date is also indicated. ) from their high school on a certain date. (The applicants need to submit an Equivalency Certificate taken from the Turkish Ministry of Education or Turkish Embassies in their countries and confirming the equivalency of the applicant's diploma to a Turkish high school diploma during registration.)
2. Official Transcript:Official transcripts of the candidates showing the courses and grades of all the years they have taken during their high school education and the transcripts must be approved by the relevant High School Directorate (if the transcript is not in Turkish or English, a Turkish or English translation approved by the notary public, district governorship in Turkey or Turkish Foreign Representatives should also be uploaded.) If the applicant still continues his/her study In another university or graduated from a university, the transcript taken from the other university need to be also uploaded.
3. Valid Test Result: The original exam report to be used In applicatIon or its approved English or Turkish translation need to be uploaded. Only the exams above-mentioned are accepted. It is not possible to apply with any other exams or test scores lower than those presented in article B.
4. Photocopy of Passport: Students havIng passports can upload a photocopy of the identification page (with the photograph) of theIr passports. It Is not necessary to be approved. Students who do not have a passport must upload an ID from their home country.
5. Statement of Purpose: The statement of purpose is a written expression of your qualities as an applicant and is crucial for our university to understand why you are an appropriate candidate for the program you choose.(300 words)
6. Blue Card(from TurkIsh Government): Students who do not have Blue Cards are not required to upload anythIng.
7. Residence Permit: Students who do not have Residence Permits are not required to upload anything. Student residence permit procedures will be made by the university after enrollment to the university. Click here for the relevant link.
8. Preferred Justification Letter (For Textile Development And Marketing (DDP-SUNY Fashion Instutute of Technology) Program Only): Students who want to apply for Textile Development And Marketing (DDP-SUNY Fashion Instutute of Technology), Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design, are required to upload a writing Statement of Purpose which includes 300 words at most and states the requests and justifications of students to enroll in the program.
9. Portfolio (Only for Fashion Design (DDP-SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology)): Applicants to the Fashion Design (DDP-SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology) Program are required to upload a portfolio prepared in accordance with the Fashion Design Portfolio Preparation Procedure available on the following website: https://tekstil.itu.edu.tr/egitim/lisans-programlari/moda-tasarimi. The portfolio must be uploaded in PDF format during the application process and must not exceed 50 MB in size.

• All applicants may be required to submit additional qualifications/documents or attend an interview if necessary.
• Program-specific requirements are listed below:
• Fashion Design (100% English) (UOLP–SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology): The General Aptitude Drawing Examination will be held on 27 August 2026 between 10:00–12:00 in the Technical Drawing Studios of the ITU Gümüşsuyu Campus. Face-to-face interviews will begin at 13:30 on 28 August 2026 and continue until 17:00 at the Dean’s Meeting Hall of the Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design, ITU Gümüşsuyu Campus, according to the application order.
• Textile Development and Marketing (100% English) (UOLP–SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology): Applicants are expected to attend the orientation meeting at 10:00 on 27 August 2026 at the Visual Education Center of the Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design, ITU Gümüşsuyu Campus. Following the meeting, applicants will take the Professional Aptitude Assessment Written Examination. Face-to-face interviews will begin at 13:00 on the same day according to the application order. Applicants are required to bring with them their Statement of Program Preference (maximum 300 words) during the interview.
• All Programs of the Turkish Music State Conservatory: Applicants to the Turkish Music State Conservatory will take the Proficiency Examination at 10:00 on 27 August 2026 in the Department of Music Theory. Applicants to the Turkish Folk Dance Program will additionally take the Elimination Examination at 14:00 on 27 August 2026. Applicants who score at least 50 out of 100 in the Proficiency Examination will be eligible to take the Final Admission Examination. The Final Admission Examinations will be held at 10:00 on 28 August 2026 in the relevant departments. The minimum passing score for the Final Admission Examination is 70 out of 100.

G) APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

• The evaluation and placement of applicants are entirely at the discretion of ITU. The University is not obliged to fill all announced quotas. Meeting the application requirements does not guarantee the right to final registration.
• In accordance with the principles determined by the ITU Senate, applicants’ valid examination scores, transcripts, and statement of purpose will be converted into the 100-point system to generate an evaluation score. Placement will primarily be based on this evaluation score.
• Applicants may make a maximum of 5 preferences. Placement is carried out according to the applicant’s order of preference. An applicant placed as a principal candidate in one program cannot be a principal or reserve candidate in another program. Applicants may be reserve candidates in more than one program.
• Following the evaluation process, results will be announced on the University’s website (www.sis.itu.edu.tr). Accepted applicants will receive an Official Letter of Acceptance via email. Accepted applicants must obtain a student visa from the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Türkiye in their country (or the nearest one) using this acceptance letter.
  A student visa is mandatory both for entry into Türkiye and for registration at ITU.
• During registration, the full tuition fee determined by the Council of Ministers for the relevant academic year must be paid. Registration will not be completed without payment, and applicants will lose their registration rights. Tuition fees are non-refundable even if the applicant withdraws after payment.
• The required registration documents and registration deadlines will be announced on the University website. Health expenses of international students will be covered by the students themselves within the scope of their own health insurance.

H) LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION AT ITU

• In order to enroll in undergraduate programs at ITU, students are required to submit a valid English proficiency examination result accepted by the ITU Senate during registration. Students who cannot provide an English proficiency certificate must attend the English Preparatory Program of the ITU School of Foreign Languages for one academic year.
• Students who have obtained the required score in an accepted English proficiency examination will be exempt from the preparatory program and begin their undergraduate studies directly. Click here for the English proficiency examinations accepted by ITU and the minimum required scores.

• Turkish Proficiency Certificates are accepted only if issued by the ITU Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (ITU TÖMER) or the Yunus Emre Institute.

Students admitted to faculty programs with at least 30% English instruction and to the Turkish Music State Conservatory must submit a C1 Level Turkish Proficiency Certificate. This certificate must be obtained from centers recognized by the ITU Senate within one (1) year from the registration date. Students who fail to submit the certificate within this period will be granted one additional year. Those who still fail to submit the certificate within the legal period cannot begin their undergraduate or preparatory education. However, students who submit a valid Turkish proficiency certificate within the legal period may begin the English Preparatory Program. Students who fail to submit the certificate within the legal period will have their registrations cancelled. Students who submit a C1 Turkish Proficiency Certificate by the end of the first semester and also possess an English proficiency certificate accepted by the ITU Senate may begin taking courses from the second semester. International students who completed their high school education in Türkiye and are admitted to programs with 30% or 100% English instruction are exempt from the Turkish proficiency requirement.
